New Spring Work

As in jewelry, that is.

* * *

We try our best to raise our children well, provide them what we can, hope they will do better than us in terms of serving humankind--and beyond.  Our legacy, our hopes and dreams, are instilled, imprinted.  In a fatal swoop, it is chaos.  Yet the legacy lives onward, goodness prevails.  For we must believe that goodness and kindness will indeed prevail.

Autumn-Inspired Designs

With the changing of seasons are new EmeraldCut designs inspired by warmth and most of all, vivid, fall hues; an exploratory stroll in the post-summer woods wearing a cozy sweater-jacket, a well-worn pair of jeans, and warm boots to warm the crisp chill in the air...

Stones: amethyst, garnet, opal, green aventurine, rainbow moonstone, tourmaline, peridot.

Look for these new designs in October in my shop:

March Update

It's been pretty quiet here.  Adjusting, anxious, but also ever so hopeful and determined in knowing what I need to do.  Taking little breaks from the leaden ball-and-chain act of writing, I have been dreaming up some new pieces for my shop...

There's something so glorious about sunstone, and I'm not just referring to the stone's upbeat, coppery-orange hue.  I like the way that it glitters: not too flashy, but still a beautiful, understated "statement" piece.  That sounds redundant, but I believe that any piece of jewelry can be a statement piece, even if it is on the not too flashy (and/or tiny) side.

Natural confidence--or synonymously, being comfortable in one's own skin--emanates from within; it is in how you carry yourself.  So, it is really an illusion (i.e.: mass-marketing campaign) that wearing jewelry creates confidence and will make you feel better at the end of the day.  Jewelry, to me, adds to the emanation-from-within process in a spiritual manner--amplifying one's aura, vibe, whatever you want to call it. Coincidentally, it is no wonder why I photograph most of my jewelry from certain angles that "catch" the light: areas where the inside and/or outside of the stone is illuminated and can be seen in a photograph.  The beauty of a piece of jewelry, like the beauty of a person, truly emanates from within.

Here are some new sunstone pieces:

Also, more hand-selected citrine and amethyst points are now in-stock, ready to be created into pendants. This weekend, armed with a mug of hot tea and probably Rachael Yamagata on repeat, I will be busily (and happily) creating more point pendants to add to my shop.  A semi-deft description of these beauties: the amethyst points are luscious, varying shades of plum purple; the citrine points range in color from an earthy, light amber to a rich, deep brown.  Out of this stone selection, my favorite is a mellow, cognac-colored citrine point.

Lastly, a heads-up:
My shop will be closed for (at least) a week in mid-March, so that I can take a little time for myself.  I plan to reopen my shop sometime in late March.

Wishing you all a very happy Friday.

New Lovelies: Twenty-six in Two Days

Over the last few days, I have created twenty-six new pendants--crazy pendant lady, I know.  Honestly, I just love the craft; it's a therapeutic line of work.  Listen to some music, take a reading break, then back to creating.  I spent all day yesterday and the day before working on these pendants...now it's time to do some leisure reading and the much-dreaded editing.  But first, I wanted to share some pictures of these new (and some old) designs:

These pendants will slowly be added to my Etsy shop this summer.  No guarantees on how quickly they'll be added, so please convo me if you're interested in one, and I'll create a special listing for you.  However, I have already listed a few...

Before and After

I love stones.  So when I had the chance to go to a bead shop that I had never been to before, I got as giddy as a kid in a candy store.  Well, when I was a kid, I loved stones and books, but you get the analogy.  I picked out quite a few individual stones, as seen below...

BEFORE

Some stones in the picture above were already in my collection (the moonstones, prehnite chip, raw tourmaline nuggets, moonstone marquise-shaped stone, and the citrine briolette).  However, the rest are new--I got so excited that I purchased a few more of some stones, rather than just one!  I even stayed within my budget.

Last night, I spent the entire night creating pendants from these stones.  Sorry, husband!  It was quite a laborious night, but well worth it.  Here is the "after" photo:

AFTER

I am currently taking pictures of these exciting new designs, and will be adding them to my shop within the next few weeks.  Being the perfectionist that I am, the pictures need to be "perfect"--good lighting that showcases the stone's actual shape, color, striations, etc.--so it may take awhile for me to physically post them online.  For my blog viewers, I can reserve these yet-to-be-listed pendants for you.  Please convo me for this option.  I truly appreciate those who care to read my blog and visit my shop, however few and far between you are.

Lastly, I have created a few deeply personal collages this past week, one of which is listed for sale in my shop.  Collaging is a constant past time that I have enjoyed for many years--I can spend the entire day collaging, without paying any attention to time's constraints.  Each collage was created from cardstock, magazine images, and Paper Mod Podge (acid-free decoupage sealer, finish, and glue).  I have yet to decide if I want to sell the ones not listed for sale.  Here are their images...

If you would like to share any of the information in this blog, please contact me first and ask.  Then, give me a link to your site, so that I can blog about it.  Respectful reciprocity is such a good thing.

Be good to one another.  I've been thinking a lot about the cyclical nature of life, and the only thing that I can come up with is that phrase.  Be good to one another.  A simple phrase, something that we learned as children; but as adults, we oftentimes overlook this tried and true deed.  Goodness begets goodness...positivity, positivity.

I've been wearing my own (not the ones for sale) peridot heishe dangle with my citrine drop briolette pendant a lot lately, wishing for spring.  The bright green and vibrant gold of these pendants are invigorating.  I have also been wearing my own (also not the ones for sale!) moonstone chip dangle with my citrine chip dangle pretty religiously, as well.  I have worn these pendants by themselves, as solitary pendants, too!

These pairings remind me of the versatility of my designs--they are substantial enough to be worn alone OR together, and are not visually overwhelming.  So affordable, as well.   Please check out my shop to see more!
