GIVEAWAY Time

I am, admittedly, a little behind in celebrating my five-year Etsy shop anniversary, but it's been a reflective time: personally, professionally, and worldwide as well...

Giveaway:

This giveaway is for a dainty, delicate solid 14k yellow gold necklace featuring a tiny cluster of AA-quality golden tourmaline.  Stone cluster is attached with gold-fill wire onto a large closed gold-fill jump ring; I've wrapped each tiny dangle at the bottom for structure.  A stunning, luxurious necklace for her with the sweetest little details.  Retail price: $83.00.

Dangle is under 1" long/tall.

Three ways to enter:
1. Each purchase made in my shop = one entry.
2. Leave a comment on this post of your favorite EC | TIW piece = one entry (include your email, which will be kept private).
3. Repost, favorite, or leave a comment on the accompanying Instagram post = one-to-three entries.

Total of 5+ giveaway entries available per person.

The winner will be drawn on 12/1.  Thank you for all the support over the years, and good luck!

P.S. Our printer broke down after installing its expensive ink.  I'm still grumbling over it.  A new printer is on its way (hopefully a workhorse!), so please bear with us as we wait.  All orders will ship on Friday at the earliest.

New Look, Same Site

I recently spent an afternoon updating and editing my main site, The Introverted Writer.  The reason for this was because although the layout was pretty on the computer screen, the mobile version was horribly disjointed.  On a smartphone, my main site's homepage was a visual mess: content from single lines took up two lines, headings overlapped, and one could not really tell what the links were there for.

Who knew that our handy cellphones could cause such confusion regarding content!  I can only imagine how baffled a potential client must have felt while trying to peruse my (old design) main site on their cell.

So, I smoothed out some of the kinks by changing the homepage image and layout--which turned into hours of editing the entire site, background colors included.  I am happy to finally say that the new design works for me.  Thank you for sticking with me as I become more tech-friendly (now crossing my fingers that the updated layout remains reader- and smartphone-friendly).

Thumbelina Leigh & a Shop Promo

Thumbelina Leigh Lavender
July 2015

My Thumbelina Leigh Lavender is still holding strong despite a complete change in appearance over the past three years.  Read somewhere that lavenders only last a handful of years as potted plants, which may be true, but I have seen some planted-in-the-ground varieties flourish for over a decade now!  Thumbelina Leigh is a hybrid, only introduced in 2003, making it a newbie in the lavender world--but it is gorgeous, compact, and deliciously fragrant once established.

To compare, the following photo is of my TLL in March of this year (note the older growth stems to the left):

March 2015

Basically, my lavender photo from July 2015 (first photo) shows all new growth--the sprigs on the left-hand side visible in the above photo taken this spring are now long gone, had died earlier this summer.  Who knew lavender plants could basically die off--and then sprout up again.  Has anyone had this issue with growing lavenders?

A 2012 throwback photo of the same plant after purchase from the nursery:

I hope that my TLL will flourish again, and have high hopes that it will.  If this occurs, I will list more buds for sale in my shop, for there have been a few inquiries about them as of late.
