August

With the end of summer fast approaching, I've been searching for glimpses of autumn in the world around me.  A sharper gust of wind, a cooler shift in the air, an early golden leaf.  Baby A. is my constant companion in these outdoor jaunts, peeping over my shoulder and looking high up into the clouds from her vantage point in the carrier.  I have to try pushing her around in the stroller because she's getting bigger and bigger - where does the time go?

Motherhood has become a sort of coming-of-age story for me, an awakening.  If I could go back in the past I'd tell myself to be kinder, to cut out the incessant worrying and the frustration because it's all happening for a reason.  The reason may be elusive in the moment, but there is always a point being made.

As the verdant colors of summer shift to those of autumn, I look forward to sharing my favorite season with my little one.  The golds and browns and oranges and reds.  The cozy sweaters and the hoodies.  I also look forward to celebrating her first birthday, helping her take her first steps, and taking road trips with her Daddy and her.  She already says 10+ words on her own; reading/studying books is her favorite pastime.

Back at It

Trying to get back in to making jewelry.  I even set aside the above stones, looked at them glinting gloriously in the light, and then of course - like the tentative dreamer I am - put them back into their respective little containers.  Still, these stones sit on my desk (in containers), so I'll wait for inspiration to light a fire under me before I break out the sterling silver wire and actually make something pretty.  My goal: something different, color driven, and effortlessly autumn - but wearable all year-round.  At least I'm actively thinking about jewelry making, right?

Stones shown here: peridot, peacock pearl, labradorite, citrine, opal, hessonite garnet, white moonstone, carnelian, kyanite, smoky quartz, amethyst, and heliodor.

Thank you to my wonderful buyers for sticking by me and continuing to support my ever-evolving vision!  My shop was first a jewelry shop, then I added wedding goods, and finally quality writing services after I received my MA degree a few years back.  I'm still amazed that I have return buyers (half-kidding here).  Lastly, I'm slowly taking shop inquiries again, so if you have questions please ask.

Hello, August

A few days late, but hello.  I love the end of seasons, which can conversely be seen as almost the start of a new one.  The air changes, turns electric--almost imperceptible unless you stand outside and close your eyes and take in a deep breath.  This shift in the air tells you that there will soon be a change in weather.  And soon too the leaves will fall, a crispness will be felt in the air, and the days will shorten to a golden-orange glow.  But first there's August, and its last magical days of summer.
